BANNER 9 UPGRADE AT NCC

Banner 9 Self Service

Go-Live transition starts: December 31, 2025

About Banner Self-Service

Banner Self-Service is the enterprise-wide Student Information System (SIS) used by the College. Students use this system to register for classes, view their final course grades, and pay their tuition bills. This is the same system used by Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid and the Bursar’s Office.

As part of our student-centered mission and strategic goals, Nassau Community College (NCC) is upgrading to the latest application version of Banner Self-Service 9. This newer version is a modern-looking platform that supports core academic and administrative systems and has an enhanced user interface. This upgrade strengthens NCC’s digital ecosystem and allows for improved integration with systems such as CourseDog, DegreeWorks, and Brightspace.

Phases

The transition to Banner 9 will occur in phases over several months to ensure continuity of operations and appropriate training for stakeholders and functional areas. This phased approach allows for targeted configuration and testing aligned to the needs of students and stakeholders.

Below is a timeline of Banner 9 SSB’s rollout over the course of the coming semester.

What’s Changing and When

Phase 1: Student Information System (SIS)

Winter 2026 (January)

The first phase focuses on student-facing and academic functionality, including:

  • Registrar functions
  • Course and section data
  • Student Accounts
  • Financial Aid

The core functionality that students have come to know and use for tasks such as course registration, paying tuition, and checking grades will remain available; however, the look and feel of the web facing environment will be different with improvements in user experience.

Banner 9 Student Self-Service Dashboard

During the first weeks of January, all users will have the opportunity to view and use the general and student dashboards that provide a listing of links to different areas of the Self-Service application.

Over the month of January you will see additional notifications with information about:

  1. Highlights of the new version and what has changed from the old version.
  2. Media and documentation on how to use and become familiar with the new Banner 9 experience.
  3. Additional functionality being added to the Banner 9 environment as we complete the integration of third-party applications.
  4. Transition timeline updates.

Phase 2: Expansion of Self-Service

Spring 2026 (January & February)

During the first weeks of the Spring 2026 semester we will be completing the transition and making any updates needed that may be found during user testing.

Phase 3: Final Transition

Spring 2026 (February-March)

February will mark our final phase of transition. During this time, we will end the use of the old version as we move to full adoption of the updated Banner 9 Self-Service application.

Why a Phased Approach

Transitioning Banner self-service functionality in stages allows the college to:

  • Reduce disruption to critical operations
  • Provide focused support by functional areas
  • Validate data and workflows before expanding

Each phase will be supported by training resources, documentation, and technical support tailored to the affected users.

Training and Support

Training materials and support resources will be released at each phase. Faculty and staff will receive advance notice, guidance during the transition.

Thank you for your partnership as NCC modernizes its digital systems.
