MyNCC Student E-mail is a means of communication between the College and students. The College provides access to MyNCC E-mail service from on and off-campus via the World Wide Web. Therefore, the College has the right to send communications to students via e-mail and the right to expect that those communications will be received and read in a timely fashion.
The College will assign students a MyNCC Student E-mail account with a unique email address. It is to this address that the College will send e-mail communications. MyNCC Student E-mail accounts are to be used solely by the student assigned to the account. Students are responsible for maintaining the privacy of their accounts and passwords.
If a student chooses to redirect his or her MyNCC Student E-mail address to another e-mail address (e.g., @aol.com, @hotmail.com, etc.), they may do so, but at the student’s own risk. The College will not be responsible for the handling of e‑mail by outside providers. Redirecting MyNCC Student E-mail does not relieve a student from the responsibilities associated with communication sent to his or her MyNCC Student E-mail address. Redirecting MyNCC Student E-mail is not recommended.
Students are expected to check their MyNCC Student E-mail account on a frequent and consistent basis in order to stay current with College communications. The College recommends checking MyNCC Student E-mail daily as certain communications by the College may be time-critical.
Faculty may determine how MyNCC Student E-mail will be used in their classes. Faculty may expect students’ to access their MyNCC Student E-mail accounts in a timely manner. Students should speak with individual faculty to ascertain e-mail course requirements.
MyNCC Student E-mail is not appropriate for transmitting sensitive or confidential
information unless its use for such purposes is matched by an appropriate level of
All use of MyNCC Student E-mail will be consistent with local, state and federal law including the confidentiality of student records protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).
Use of MyNCC Student E-mail must adhere to Nassau Community College’s Acceptable Use of Computer Resources and Electronic Communication Policy.
This e-mail account is NOT a lifetime account and will be deleted eighteen months after you graduate, transfer or have stopped attending. An e-mail will be sent to you BEFORE the account is deleted, so you have the opportunity to migrate your e-mails.
