Resources and Belonging
At Nassau Community College (NCC) belonging means that all students and employees feel their uniqueness is not only accepted but also respected and protected. This ethos transcends a mere sense of acceptance, creating a campus where every student faculty member, staff, and affiliate is valued and honored.
Our goal is for every employee to feel like an “insider” within the NCC community, where they can retain their individuality while being fully integrated. Equally important is ensuring that our students feel connected, accepted, valued, supported, and safe.
The Office of Civil Rights and Belonging is dedicated to identifying and eliminating any barriers that undermine the sense of belonging for individuals in our community. Such barriers include, but are not limited to, discrimination based on race, religion, gender, gender identity, ethnicity, nation origin, ancestry, military or veteran status, disability, age, bullying, sexual harassment, and sexual violence.
This page serves as a resource hub for the NCC community, offering tools and information to foster equal access in teaching, promote belonging in service delivers, and encourage productive anti-discrimination dialogue both on and off-campus. These resources are managed by the Associate Vice President/Chief Diversity Officer in partnership with the Academic Senate Committee on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). We welcome recommendations and research from our community members to support these initiatives.
