Nassau Community College Celebrates Women's History Month

Garden City, NY  In celebration of Women's History Month, the Nassau Community College Women's History Month Committee honors the foundations of feminism. Political Memory: How It's Erased, How It's Kept Alive, Tuesday, March 20, 1:00 p.m., College Center Building. Louise Bernikow writer of eight books, consulting historian for Women's eNews and famed lecturer ponders politics.

Physical Activity as a Feminist Act, Tuesday, March 20, 2:30 p.m., College Center Building. The first woman to enter the Boston Marathon, Emmy-award winning sports commentator Kathrine Switzer discusses her recently published autobiography.

Keynote Speaker Gloria Steinem, Monday, March 26, 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., College Center Building. The founder of modern feminism and Ms. Magazine, author of Outrageous Acts and Everyday Rebellions, the celebrated activist speaks about her life. A Day with Poet Annie Finch, Wednesday, March 28, (Workshop 12:30 p.m.; Reading 2:00 p.m.; Women's Faculty Seminar 3:30 p.m.) College Center Building. Meet and hear this award-winning poet and critic who also directs a creative writing program at the University of Southern Maine.
