Garden City, NY – The National Women’s Studies Association (NWSA) has invited Barbara Horn, Professor of English at Nassau Community College, to be a member of its recently established Research Scholars’ Advisory Board. The Board will look at strategic planning for the NWSA as well as ways to encourage and support scholars in the field. Funded by the Ford Foundation, NWSA is the leading national organization dedicated to advancing feminist scholarship, education, service and community activism. It has more than 2,000 members worldwide.

 

Barbara Horn, Professor of English and Coordinator of the Women’s Studies Project at Nassau, has published many essays, book afterwords and articles. She has also presented numerous conference papers on such subjects as women writers, working-class issues and the images of aging in literature. Prof. Horn’s awards include membership in Phi Beta Kappa, a Vanguard Educator Recognition Award and a SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching. Born in rural Missouri, Horn currently lives in New York City and spends her summers in Mastic Beach.
