Psychology

I joined NCC in 2006. I instantly felt like I was coming home to a big family, and have genuinely loved my time here ever since. My journey in psychology has taken some twists and turns. From my days at Stony Brook, I pursued a double major in psychology and women’s studies – and continued that path through my PhD at the University of Connecticut.

Over the years, I taught, mentored students, engaged in campus activism, and most recently went back to school again for a counseling degree to pursue another one of my dreams – becoming a therapist. I bring these new life experiences in mental health into each one of my classes.

Although I absolutely love being in a room (virtual or face-to-face) with students, talking about psychology and life, I am most proud of the work I’ve done as the co-advisor to the Psychology Club over the years. We have worked on projects and events to inspire, educate, and have fun – and I treasure getting to know the creativity and gifts of each of these students!"

I served in the United States Navy in Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, II and at Camp Pendleton with the 5th Marines. I was also deployed to Okinawa, Japan twice. Stateside, I knew that Nassau Community College has a reputation for being very military friendly, and when I got here, it was true.
