Valedictorian, Class of 2017

Coming from Honduras, I was lucky enough to have family on Long Island and an excellent and affordable college in the area, so my decision to attend SUNY Nassau Community College was an easy one. My experience at SUNY Nassau was amazing to say the least. I had the opportunity to learn from brilliant, passionate, and caring professors. I made friendships that I hope will last forever and I built a solid foundation for my career that opened a whole new world of opportunities.

Some of my fondest memories at SUNY Nassau are from my professors, who would go out of their way to motivate me, give me advice, and support my growth, both personally and professionally.

Commencement was an unforgettable experience. As valedictorian of the class of 2017, I was fortunate enough to graduate on my mother's birthday, and hopefully delivered a speech that honored some of the valuable lessons she gave me.

After graduating from SUNY Nassau, I pursued a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. I currently work as an Automation Project Engineer at Superior Controls.

I served in the United States Navy in Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, II and at Camp Pendleton with the 5th Marines. I was also deployed to Okinawa, Japan twice. Stateside, I knew that Nassau Community College has a reputation for being very military friendly, and when I got here, it was true.
