Twenty-Fifth Annual Mid-Winter Blood Drive at NCC
Public Invited to Participate – Thursday, January 16

Garden City, NY - Nassau Community College, in conjunction with Long Island Blood Services, will host its 25th annual Mid-Winter Blood Drive on Thursday, January 16, 2020, from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the Multipurpose Room of the College Center Building on the NCC campus. The College invites members of the community to join our efforts and become donors.

Nassau Community College is continuing its joint efforts with Long Island Blood Services to supply a substantial percentage of the blood needs of our community. Our Mid-Winter Drive begins the new year in the appropriate spirit of giving. This is a critical time of year, when blood supplies are traditionally low, but the need for blood and blood products is large. The drive also is a step in NCC's plan to encourage all able individuals to participate in this vital activity. Dr. Arthur Friedman, Coordinator of the NCC Blood Drive Task Force, states, “At Nassau Community College, we take our community service responsibilities seriously. We hope our efforts will help meet a substantial amount of the community's blood needs. We look forward to working in partnership with community residents in this much needed blood drive.”

Make an appointment to give blood by calling Dr. Friedman at 516.572.7401, or just stop in on January 16 and say, "I want to be a blood donor!" The process takes only about an hour and light refreshments will be served to participants. Blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh 110 pounds or more and be in good health. Donors should come with some personal identification. We also ask that donors eat before donating.
