Garden City, NY — The Nassau Community College Department of Theatre and Dance will present The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 November 30 through December 3 and December 6 through 10 at the Mainstage Theatre. Written by John Bishop, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 isn't a musical. It's a comedy that pokes fun at the theatre and film worlds. It involves a series of murders in New York by a killer dubbed "The Stage Door Slasher," a madman who prefers his victims female, nubile and wearing ballet tutus. Detective Kelly figures he'll get all the likely suspects in the same room and prompt the murderer to give him- or herself away. For this he engages the help of Elsa Von Grossenkneuten, who lures the suspects to her estate with the promise of potential backing for a new Broadway show. Producers, writers, singers and comics gather at the estate, where a blizzard traps them all for the weekend. To their dismay, the "Stage Door Slasher" strikes again. The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 is a zany, laugh-out-loud murder mystery! Performances of the play are at 8:00 p.m., except on Sundays, when they are at 3:00 p.m. Tickets are $9.00, discounted to $7.00 for those aged 55 and over. Rush tickets purchased at the door with fall 2017 college ID are free on weeknights and $5.00 on weekends. The theatre box office can be reached at 516.572.7676 Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., except on College holidays.
