Nassau Community College Presents Grammy Award-Winning Artist, Author and Activist Common:  Common Sense, Common KnowledgeFebruary 15common

Garden City, New York – The Nassau Community College Black History Month Committee is proud to present Grammy Award-winning artist, author and activist Common, who will present Common Sense, Common Knowledge on Tuesday, February 15 at 11:30 a.m. in the College Center Building. During his presentation, Common will talk about his philosophy of success.

Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr., better known by his stage name Common, was born in 1972 in Chicago. While in high school, he formed a rap trio that opened for such acts as N.W.A. and Big Daddy Kane. Common debuted the single “Take it EZ” followed by the album Can I Borrow a Dollar? under the stage name Common Sense. His 1994 album Resurrection received much critical acclaim. Since then, Common has had many best-selling, award-winning songs and albums. He has also worked with such well-known artists as Kanye West and Erykah Badu. As an actor, Common has been featured in several films and television series, including American Gangster, Just Wright and Date Night.

In addition to his artistic pursuits, Common launched the Common Ground Foundation, an organization dedicated to the empowerment and development of urban youth in the United States.

Common Sense, Common Knowledge is free, open to the public and accessible to the disabled. Please note that seating for this event is limited and that priority seating will be given to Nassau Community students with current ID. For more information, call 516.572.7376.
