The Nassau Community College Women’s History Month Committee Presents  "Looking Back to Look Ahead:  Women and Change"

 Garden City, NY In celebration of Women's History Month, the Nassau Community College Women's History Month Committee offers events that discuss the politics of gender. All programs take place in the College Center Building and are free and open to the public. Women and the Railroad: One-Hundred Years Ago and Today, Helena Williams, LIRR President, Tuesday, March 3, 10:00 a.m., College Center Building. The first female president of a major U.S. rail system discusses how women have influenced and been influenced by the railroad.

I Don't: A Contrarian History of Marriage, Author Susan Squire, Monday, March 9 at 12:30 p.m., College Center Building. Writer of the recently published I Don't: A Contrarian History of Marriage looks at the impact of an institution.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Angela Davis, Transformative Strategies for Women, Wednesday, March 18, 11:00 a.m., College Center Building. Author of eight books; faculty member at San Francisco State University, UC Berkeley, UCLA, Stanford University and UC Santa Cruz; and lecturer at home and abroad, Davis's most current publications are Abolition Democracy and Are Prisons Obsolete? This event is co-sponsored by the Women's Resource Center and the Black History Month Committee. Please note that seating is limited and priority seating will be given to NCC students.
