Nassau Community College Celebrates Black History Month
Plaza Art Gallery Exhibition
A Man of Color: Works of Stanwyck Cromwell
February 2, Garden City, NY – Nassau Community celebates Black History Month with a Plaza Art Gallery exhibition called A Man of Color: Works of Stanyck Cromwell. The show will run through February 28.
Stanwyck E. Cromwell is a Guyanese-born, second generation visual artist and a Professor at Capital Community College in Hartford, CT. His memories of Guyana are rich and abundant. Cromwell uses a colorful pallet to examine the meaning of place and his cultural identity. The mixes of cultures in American society have played a significant role in his works that capture viewers’ eyes and warms the soul. Cromwell’s works reflect an evolving exploration of growth, life, and innovation.
Stanwyck Cromwell will give an artist talk at the gallery at 11:30 a.m. on February 19. There will be a reception on that day from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The Plaza Art Gallery is located in room 101 of the Tower Building. Its hours are Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information about the exhibition call 516.572.9699.
