Nassau Community College Remembers September 11, 2001

September 5, 2025, Garden City, NY – Nassau Community College held a 9/11 remembrance ceremony today on the NCC campus at its Memorial Brick Wall.  The event marks the 24th anniversary of September 11, 2001.  The moving ceremony was attended by faculty, staff, and students.

Joseph Jankowski, Nassau Community College Acting Vice President of Institutional Advancement, was Master of Ceremonies for the remembrance ceremony. The event featured speeches by Dr. Maria Conzatti, NCC Chief Administrative Officer; Patrick Ryder, Commissioner, Nassau County Police Department; and Joshua Hammer, the student trustee on the Nassau Community College Board of Trustees. The Nassau Community College Department of Public Safety Color Guard also participated, and Professor Chris Miley played the National Anthem. NCC Music Major’s Club student Anthony Doall played Taps as a floral wreath was placed at the Memorial Brick Wall.

“As an alumnus of Nassau Community College and a current adjunct professor I am always in awe when I return for the 9/11 ceremony. It is important that we teach our history, and we remember those who have sacrificed so much, but this year I was truly stunned by the landscaping and cleanliness of the campus,” Patrick Ryder, Nassau County Police Commissioner said. “If you put back into your institution, you will get better results. This is something I live by in the police department. I’m asking my cops to be the best, then they deserve the best facilities. Congratulations to the entire team at Nassau Community College for keeping the tradition alive and giving back to the institution.”
