Nassau Community College Expands Collegewide Credit
for Prior Learning and Life Experience

Policy allows for up to nine credits for prior learning and life experience, including
professional licenses, military service, and more.

Garden City, NY – Nassau Community College has announced that it will now allow students up to nine credits for eligible prior learning and life experience credits beginning with the Fall 2025 semester.

"Nassau Community College’s new collegewide policy for awarding academic credit for prior learning and life experience will enable students to advance more efficiently toward their educational and career objectives," said Dr. Maria Conzatti, Chief Administrative Officer. "At NCC, we remain committed to identifying innovative pathways that support and empower our students in achieving their goals.”

The new policy will award the Prior Learning Assistance Credit (PLAC) to the program requirements of degree seeking students for eligible non-college training, military training and experience, professional and industry certifications, licensures and credentials, and standardized and college testing in accordance with the college’s grading practices. The award shall be subject to prior submission by the student of all required documentation, such as military or ACE (American Council on Education) transcripts.

The PLAC program at Nassau Community College will be applied when a student’s knowledge and skill are determined to be equivalent to college-level learning.  For more information about Nassau Community College Credit for Prior Learning and Life Experience Program contact the NCC Office of Academic Affairs at 516.572.7775 or academicaffairs@ncc.edu.
