I was a captain in the US Army. I served all over as I was a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne, deployed with 1st ID (Infantry Division) to Afghanistan, then deployed again to Afghanistan with the 10th Mountain Division. I went to Qatar a few times for some conferences and then my last duty station was Fort Shafter, Hawaii. I learned a great deal from my travels, and each country has a different point of view.  Being able to see things from different perspectives is something you know, but never fully understand until you experience it firsthand.

I chose NCC for the ability to enhance my IT career with a cybersecurity certification, which is well sought after in the IT field. This is my first semester at the College. I don’t think people fully realize the utility of an associate’s degree. I am going for another certification after I already received my college degree from Hofstra University and then my master’s degree from LIU at CW Post. Learning never ends.  There’s always room for improvement.

I served in the United States Navy in Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, II and at Camp Pendleton with the 5th Marines. I was also deployed to Okinawa, Japan twice. Stateside, I knew that Nassau Community College has a reputation for being very military friendly, and when I got here, it was true.

"I served in the United States Navy in San Diego from 2014 to 2021, first on the USS Harpers Ferry and then on the USS Rushmore. When it was time for me to attend college, I chose NCC because it's veteran friendly and offers many different programs.
