Nassau Community College Foundation Hosts
Annual Gala Honoring Community Leaders
March 12 Garden City, NY — The Nassau Community College Foundation will host its annual Gala this evening, Thursday, March 12, bringing together community leaders, alumni, and supporters in celebration of student success at Nassau Community College. The event will take place at Jericho Terrace in Mineola beginning with a cocktail reception at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 7 p.m.
The Gala will honor three individuals whose leadership and service have made a meaningful impact on the College and the broader community:
- Jayson Williams, former NBA All-Star and founder of Rebound on the Road
- Franklin Camarano Jr., President of the Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce
- Genette Alvarez-Ortiz, Ed.D., Vice President of Academic Affairs at Nassau Community College
Proceeds from the evening will benefit the Nassau Community College Foundation, helping to provide scholarships, resources, and critical support services for students.
“The Gala is a celebration of the community that surrounds and supports Nassau Community College,” said a Christopher Williams, Acting Executive Director of the Nassau Community College Foundation. “Through the generosity of our supporters and the leadership of our honorees, we continue to provide opportunities for our students and strengthen their paths to success.”
Each honoree represents a different facet of community leadership and service. Williams, who rose to prominence as an NBA All-Star with the New Jersey Nets, now dedicates his efforts to helping individuals rebuild their lives through a workforce training program based at Nassau Community College. Camarano has long championed economic development and small businesses throughout Nassau County, and Dr. Alvarez-Ortiz has served the College in a variety of academic leadership roles.
The annual Gala is the Foundation’s premier fundraising event and brings together business leaders, educators, alumni, and community supporters committed to advancing higher education on Long Island.
