WHPC, “The Voice of Nassau Community College,” to be Honored
at Legends of Long Island Music Awards

February 2, 2026, Garden City, NY – Nassau Community College is proud to announce that its radio station, WHPC 90.3 FM, has been selected by Good Times magazine and the Long Island Music Business Organization as a Legends of Long Island for 2026. The station was awarded in the College Radio Station category.

“If there is one thing WHPC is known for, it is our unique music mix and specialty shows, and I am ecstatic that Good Times magazine and “LIMBO” have noticed and recognized us for our commitment to playing all of it!,” said Shawn Novatt, WHPC Director. “From pop and rock to music from Italy, Lithuania, and the Caribbean, we play it all - including (and especially) local, unsigned Long Island musicians on shows like “Rising Stars.”  If you tune in to WHPC, you might just hear your new favorite song!  Thank you for the honor and recognition!”

Good Times magazine set up the Long Island Music Organization (LIMBO) as a Chamber of Commerce to promote Long Island music businesses and the music community. This year, there are 40 award recipients in 14 categories.  The awards honor those music businesses that have helped build the vibrant Long Island music scene over the years.

Nassau Community College’s radio station is home to approximately 100 volunteers, most of whom are NCC students.  Its programming includes sports, entertainment, and informational shows, including a variety of music shows featuring everything from pop and rock to polka and Italian formats.  The station can be heard at 90.3 FM and worldwide through the iHeartRadio, Audacy, TuneIn, and ‘WHPC’ apps, as well as Amazon Alexa and Google Home devices (say “Play WHPC!”). It is the only college radio station in Nassau and Suffolk to broadcast in high definition.
