Nassau Community College Foundation Honors Former NBA All-Star Jayson Williams, President of Nassau Council Chambers of Commerce Franklin Camarano, Jr., and NCC Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Genette Alvarez-Ortiz at March 12 Gala                                                                   

January 27, Garden City, NY – The Nassau Community Foundation will host its annual Gala on Thursday, March 12, at 7 p.m. at Jericho Terrace. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Nassau Community College Foundation and the NEST food pantry at the College.

Honorees:

  • Former NBA All-Star Jayson Williams, Founder of Rebound on the Road
    Jayson Williams channels his experiences into helping others rebuild their lives. Raised in New York City’s Lower East Side, he played Division I Basketball at St. John’s University and in the NBA as a first-round pick for the Philadelphia 76ers and an All-Star with the New Jersey Nets. After personal battles, Jayson founded Rebound, a treatment facility, and Rebound on the Road, a NY-based program offering CDL training and trucking opportunities to the formerly incarcerated.
  • Franklin Camarano, Jr., President, Nassau Council of Chambers of Commerce
    Franklin Camarano Jr. is a distinguished leader and advocate for small businesses and economic development throughout Nassau County. With decades of professional experience and an unwavering commitment to community service, Frank has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, vision, and measurable impact.
  • Genette Alvarez-Ortiz, EdD, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Nassau Community College
    Genette Alvarez-Ortiz began her career at NCC in 1994 as a financial aid counselor and later became an educational counselor in the Student Personnel Services Department, Chairperson, and Dean of General Education and Social Sciences before her current position as Vice President of Academic Affairs.
