September 23, 2025, Garden City, NY – In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Nassau Community College Student Organization of Latinos is proud to present featured speaker Christina Vargas on Tuesday, September 30, at 11:30 a.m. in room 252/3 of the College Center Building.
Christina Vargas is a passionate advocate for the Hispanic community. Currently Chief Diversity Officer and Title IX Coordinator at Suffolk Community College, Vargas also served as the Director of Diversity and Affirmative Action/Title IX Coordinator for all University academic and administrative areas, Stony Brook Medicine and the Long Island State Veterans' home. Past president of Stony Brook’s alumni association and founder of its Black and Latino alumni network, she is also on the Board of Directors for ERASE Racism, Inc. Vargas was selected as a Fellow of the SUNY Hispanic Leadership Institute and is a recipient of SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Public Service.
Vargas received her Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Master of Science in Management and Policy from Stony Brook University. She also holds a Diversity Management Certification as an Advanced Practitioner from Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations.
