September 15, 2025, Garden City, NY – Nassau Community College’s WHPC 90.3 FM was awarded Best College Radio Morning Show by the New York State Broadcasters Association.

“Our morning show, The Nassau Morning Madhouse, heard weekdays from 7-9am, features over 20 students with a different cast every day of the week, giving everyone the chance to learn about the ever-changing world in radio’s most listened-to daypart, morning drive,” said Shawn Novatt, WHPC Director.  “I am super excited that the work these students are doing, along with my staff members who work with the students and produce the shows, is being recognized state-wide.  Congrats to everyone involved – and we hope you’ll tune in!”

Nassau Community College’s radio station is home to approximately 100 volunteers, most of whom are NCC students.  Its programming includes sports, entertainment, and informational shows, including a variety of music shows featuring everything from pop and rock to polka and Italian formats.  The station can be heard at 90.3 FM and worldwide through the iHeartRadio, Audacy, TuneIn, and ‘WHPC’ apps, as well as Amazon Alexa and Google Home devices (say “Play WHPC!”). It is the only college radio station in Nassau and Suffolk to broadcast in high definition.

The New York State Broadcasters Association represents the interests of over 400 television and radio stations in the New York State Assembly, the United States Congress, and other various legislative bodies.  In the college division of its Excellence in Broadcasting Awards, radio and television stations were judged against each other throughout the entire state.
