August 21, 2025, Garden City, NY – The recent Nassau Community College SUNY Reconnect information session about the free community college program for eligible New Yorkers was very well attended – one of the most well attended information sessions about the program across New York State. Over 100 people attended the in-person session.
“As part of the State University of New York, we knew that there would be a lot of interest in this new and innovative program,” said Nassau Community College Chief Administrative Officer Dr. Maria Conzatti. “SUNY Reconnect is such an important program for NCC and for the state, as it provides a vital pathway for adult New Yorkers to achieve upward mobility, build high-demand skills, and strengthen the State’s workforce and economy. We are grateful to Governor Hochul and her administration for developing such an excellent program.”
SUNY Reconnect offers free associate degrees in sought-after fields for New Yorkers 25 to 55 years old with no college degree. Eligible individuals who enroll in an eligible full-time or part-time associate degree program may participate in SUNY Reconnect. The program, starting in Fall 2025, provides free tuition, fees, books, and supplies to pursue an associate’s degree. Students must take a minimum of six credits per semester and complete their degree within ten semesters.
