NCC Debuts Degrees in E-Sports and Sport Marketing

April 24, 2024, Garden City, N.Y. – In response to the increased demand for skilled marketing professionals in the fields of traditional sports and electronic sports (e-sports), Nassau Community College (NCC) has received State University of New York approval to launch two innovative Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree programs.

The A.A.S. in Sport Marketing and the A.A.S. in E-Sports Marketing are 64-credit programs, both designed to provide students with the comprehensive training and practical skills necessary to excel in these rapidly evolving industries. Courses will be available on the Garden City campus and in online formats.

Students eager to kickstart their careers in sport marketing or e-sports marketing can enroll in classes as early as the upcoming Summer Session, commencing on May 28, 2024, or opt for the Fall semester beginning on September 3, 2024. Registration is now open.

Sports and e-sports have emerged as popular businesses in recent years, driving a demand for marketing professionals equipped with expertise in sales, consumer behavior, advertising, event planning, and digital media.

While the Sport Marketing degree centers on the strategies, tactics and intricacies of promoting and managing traditional sporting events, teams and organizations, the E-Sports Marketing degree delves into the unique landscape of electronic sports, encompassing the marketing principles tailored specifically for the rapidly expanding world of modern competitive gaming.

The 64-credit A.A.S. in Sport Marketing offers a comprehensive array of courses, including:

  • Principles of Sales
  • Principles of Advertising
  • Consumer Motivation and Buyer Behavior
  • Principles of Retailing
  • Accounting I
  • Sport Facility Management
  • Introduction to Sports Management
  • Business Mathematics

The A.A.S. in E-Sports Marketing features a robust 64-credit curriculum, integrating courses such as:

  • E-Sports Event Marketing
  • Marketing Research
  • Public Relations
  • Graphic Design I
  • Digital Video and Visual Effects
  • Computers in Business
  • Game Design I
  • Sports and the Law
