Eclipse Wows Nassau

Students and Faculty watching the 2024 Solar Eclipse April 9, 2024, Garden City, NY – Nassau Community College’s Student Government Association sponsored a solar eclipse party on the Quad Monday afternoon, April 8. More than 150 students, faculty and staff gathered on picnic tables, benches and the vast campus lawn to witness the historic, celestial event from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. The SGA and Student Activities Office provided free protective glasses to students. The view was ideal as eager onlookers looked in the sky over Nassau Hall to watch the moon temporarily block the view of the sun. Watchers also lined Davis Avenue and Hazelhurst Avenue for optimal viewing during this community-building event.
