Nassau Community College Announces Fall 2023 Theater Performances & Panel Discussions

Alabama Story by Kenneth Jones & The Lightning Thief,
 The Percy Jackson Musical

Alabama Story by Kenneth Jones

WHO:             The Theater and Dance Department at Nassau Community College presents Alabama Story
by Kenneth Jones, directed by Abbe Gail Gross.  In addition to the performance there will be
two panel discussions hosted by Woodhull Freedom Foundation on Tuesday, October 10 at
11:30 a.m. and on October 29, immediately following the performance.

WHAT:            A gentle children’s book with an apparent hidden message stirs the passions of a
segregationist State Senator and a no-nonsense State Librarian in 1959 Montgomery,
Alabama, just as the civil rights movement is flowering. A contrasting story of childhood
friends – an African American man and a woman of white privilege, reunited in adulthood
in Montgomery that same year – provides private counterpoint to the public events
                         of the play.

WHEN:            Performances:
                          October 20 – 22 & October 25 – 29, 2023; Streaming show November 3, 2023
