OIESP Request for Data-Directions

OBTAINING DATA, INFORMATION AND REPORTS

NOTE: PLEASE CONSULT THE COLLEGE FACT BOOK, BEFORE SUBMITTING A DATA REQUEST

INFORMATION OIESP CAN PROVIDE:

OIESP is official distributor of institutional data and provides information concerning student demographics, enrollments, credits, scheduling, courses, sections, grades, programs, student outcomes, and tuition costs. Such data may be archival, real-time, official, or unofficial (preliminary) and may be available in a variety of formats.

INFORMATION OIESP CANNOT PROVIDE:

  1. Information that could be linked directly to specific individuals (example: students) or others subject to legal protections.  
  2. Information unrelated to College operations or outside NCC employees’ scope of employment.
  3. Information or standard reports needed on a routine or recurrent basis. These reports must be requested directly from Information Technology Services or from technologists assigned to the specific operating unit.
  4. OIESP has access only to those parts of the College’s enterprise management system that relate broadly to students and their studies. OIESP cannot provide data relating to the following offices:
  • Student financial affairs (such as financial aid or payment history)
  • College financial affairs (such as operating and capital budgets)
  • Human resources (such as personnel assignments and salaries)
  • Physical plant (such as service request counts)
  • Public Safety (such as incident counts)
  • Dean of Students (such as disciplinary matters)
  • Student Personnel Services (such as service provision counts)

REQUESTING INFORMATION FROM OIESP

OIESP requires that you submit a completed OIESP Request for Data form. This allows us to have an understanding of your needs and to track your request to completion.

ALL REQUESTS, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF BOARD OF TRUSTEE MEMBERS, PRESIDENT’S CABINET, and VICE PRESIDENTS MUST RECEIVE APPROVALS FROM APPROPRIATE OFFFICIALS (EXAMPLE: DEPARTMENT HEADS/ CHAIRPERSONS, CHAIR OF ACADEMIC SENATE, and ACADEMIC DEANS)

OIESP can help define and clarify your data request by assisting in the formation of directed research questions, identifying the appropriate use of data, and suggesting ways to analyze and present the information in the most concise manner.
