The Fall 2009 Nassau Community College Cultural Program Presents The United States and Iran: Past, Present, Future

Garden City, NY – The Fall 2009 Cultural Program at Nassau Community College is proud to host The United States and Iran: Past, Present, Future – presented by Richard W. Bulliet, a professor of Middle Eastern History at Columbia University – on Wednesday, November 4 at 9:30 a.m. in the College Center Building. During his presentation, Bulliet will discuss the troubled relationship between the U. S. and Iran.

In addition to his duties as a professor of Middle Eastern History, for the past 12 years Richard Bulliet has directed the Middle East Institute at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs. Born in Rockford, Illinois, he taught at Harvard and Berkeley prior to joining Columbia. Among the books Bulliet has written is Islam: the View From the Edge. Prof. Bulliet has traveled in almost all parts of the Muslim world, from Morocco to Indonesia. Since 2001, he has been particularly active in worldwide efforts to improve contact and cooperation among different cultures. Bulliet’s book The Case for Islamo-Christian Civilization has been translated into Arabic, French, Italian, Greek, Turkish and Persian. He is frequently called upon by the media for his expertise in Middle Eastern affairs.
