The Nassau Community College Spring 2009 Cultural Program Presents "Obama’s Challenge:  America’s Economic Crisis and the Power of a Transformative Presidency" Economist and Writer Robert Kuttner

Garden City, NY – The Spring 2009 Cultural Program at Nassau Community College is proud to present economist and columnist Robert Kuttner who will be making the presentation Obama's Challenge: America's Economic Crisis and the Power of a Transformative Presidency on Wednesday, February 25 at 11:00 a.m. in the College Center Building.

 Robert Kuttner, a leading political economist, is co-founder and co-editor of The American Prospect magazine. A longtime columnist for Business Week, he also writes for the Boston Globe and has written for The New York Times Magazine, the Harvard Business Review and The Washington Post, among others. Among Kuttner’s best-selling books are The Squandering of America: How the Failure of Our Politics Undermines Our Prosperity, and his most recent, Obama’s Challenge: America’s Economic Crisis and the Power of a Transformative Presidency, which describes the challenges Obama will face as America’s next president and outlines possible solutions and strategies.

In the public sector, Kuttner served as chief investigator for the Senate Banking Committee under Senator William Proxmire, where he conducted investigations on mortgage redlining and foreign bribery by U.S. corporations. His work led to the Home Mortgage Disclosure, Community Reinvestment and Foreign Corrupt Practices Acts.

Kuttner has also taught at Brandeis, the University of Massachusetts and Harvard’s Institute of Politics.
