This information is for students applying from their home countries, F-1 transfer students, reinstated students, and change-of-status applicants.
To attend Nassau Community College as an F-1 student you must first be accepted into a program of study at the College. You may either print the application and mail to us or click here to apply online. We recommend that F-1 applicants apply at least two months prior to the start of the semester they wish to attend.
Applicants must submit official academic documents bearing the stamp/signature of the Ministry of Education of the applicant’s own government, and/or a designated official of the academic institution issuing the document. If records are not in English, a literal English translation from an official approved translator is required. Translations by the applicant will not be accepted. If you have attended a university outside of the USA we will need a comprehensive course-by-course evaluation by a professional credentialing service. Click here for a list of acceptable services.
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is highly recommended but not required for acceptance. Submission of the Scholastic Achievement Test (SAT) with a score of 500 (verbal) could waive you from our required English placement test. The SAT is not required for acceptance. For TOEFL information, including specific test dates and locations, you may write to TOEFL, Educational Testing Service, P. O. Box 899, Princeton, NJ 08540, or call 1-609-921-9000, or contact their website at www.toefl.org For SAT information, you may contact College Board Headquarters, 45 Columbus Avenue, New York, NY 10023-8992, or contact their website at www.collegeboard.com
All F-1 applicants must be issued an I-20 form by Nassau Community College. This includes students applying from their home countries, F-1 transfer students, reinstated students, and change-of-status applicants. Financial documents must be submitted to Nassau’s Office of International Student Affairs.
