Our services are partly funded by a TRIO grant, US Department of Education and a VATEA grant from the New York State Department of Education.
Our Center provides support services to students with documented disabilities.
Students are eligible for our services if they have a documented physical, visual, learning, emotional, or hearing disability and have been accepted by Nassau Community College.
Our goal is to help students achieve success while they are attending Nassau Community College by:
- Learning to become their own advocates by talking with their professors about their disability and the accommodations they need for the course.
- Becoming independent
- Making use of available resources
- Gaining self confidence
- Developing study skills and organizational strategies
- Understanding their learning style and learning how to use their strengths to study and do well
