NETWORK ENGINEER (Reply Box 50-09)

Description:  Technologist I - Campus Network Engineer - Under the supervision of the MIS Department, this position will support and monitor data networks and associated hardware and software. Working with our senior Network Engineer, the candidate will recommend, set up, configure, troubleshoot and maintain network switches, firewalls, servers, packet shapers, ISP services, copper/fiber infrastructure, wireless and related network systems.

The Technologist will support software applications for the faculty and administrative departments with backup/recovery services, network performance tuning, network reliability/redundancy implementation and predictive needs analysis.

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field desired. One (1) year in a full-time technical support environment experience, including the support of Apple and PC platforms and associated software, is required. Experience with Windows and/or Unix servers and server applications desired. Experience with CISCO network infrastructure, HP equipment and network protocols strongly desired. Ability to work on multiple concurrent projects, meet deadlines and work as a team member desired. A thorough understanding of network systems and operations is expected. Programming skills are a plus.

This is a non-teaching faculty, tenure track position with all the commensurate benefits associated with the College’s full time faculty ranks.

DEPARTMENT OF DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
CONSTRUCTION CONTRACTS ADMINISTRATOR:
  Working for the College’s Department of Design and Construction, candidates for the Construction Contracts Administrator position must have experience retaining professional design and construction services. The candidate must have experience drafting and interpreting design and construction contracts, preparing Requests for Proposals, and managing capital project budgets.  Must also be able to draft correspondence and financial spreadsheets as well as prepare reports and graphic material.  Must have a degree in architecture or engineering and 5 to 10 years experience in construction contract administration; experience may be substituted for education.  

Responsibilities:  Drafts, negotiates and interprets design and construction contracts, assist in compiling and preparing contract bid documents; establishes and maintains contract records, ensures compliance with contractual terms and conditions and interprets contract provisions. Prepares Requests for Proposals, manages RFP process including interviews and evaluation of fee proposals, assists in compiling and preparing bid documents and bidders lists. Assists in the preparation of capital project budgets, tracking capital expenditures against project budgets; reviews and processes contractor/consultant claim vouchers and prepares capital reimbursement forms for submission. Drafts correspondence and financial spreadsheets, compiles and analyzes project data and historical information. Prepares reports and graphic material to represent projects and related financial data. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  Knowledge of requirements for acquiring professional design and construction services in accordance with current New York State and Nassau County statutes; Knowledge of the laws and ordinances regarding building construction; Skill in negotiating, writing and interpreting contractual agreements; Must be able to effectively multi-task and work with management, contractors, consultants and site personnel as well as being able to work independently. Full working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products with advanced Excel and Word experience. Qualifications:  Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering or related field and minimum of five (5) years experience, including minimum of two (2) years experience in construction contract administration; OR Ten (10) years experience in the construction industry with a minimum of five (5) years in construction contract administration.
