The Nassau Community College Center for Catholic Studies Presents: "Catholic Social Thought, Social Science and Social Policy: III" June 25 - 26

Garden City, NY - The Nassau Community College Center for Catholic Studies invites the community to a two day conference called "Catholic Social Thought, Social Science and Social Policy: III". The conference, which will consist of 15 different presentations, will take place on Friday, June 25, beginning at 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, June 26, beginning at 8:45 a.m., in the College Center Building. It's co-sponsored by the New York Regional Chapter of the Society of Catholic Social Scientists.

Among the presentations offered at the conference will be those on “Catholic Secondary and Elementary School Education,” “The Regensburg Address of Pope Benedict XVI,” “A Catholic Reflection on the Environment” and “Catholic Critiques of Evolutionary Biology and Psychology and Systems and Exchange Theories.” Among the presenters are Monsignor Robert Batule of Immaculate Conception Seminary, Dr. Marie George of St. John's University, Piero Tozzi, Esq. of the Alliance Defense Fund and Adrian Calderone, Esq. of the Society of Catholic Social Scientists.

This conference is the third of its kind offered by the Center for Catholic Studies at Nassau Community College. Presentations from the first two conferences were eventually published in 2007 in a two volume set, the "Encyclopedia of Catholic Social Thought, Social Science and Social Policy". Presentations from the third conference will eventually be incorporated in Volume III, Supplement One of the encyclopedia project, with a tentative publication date sometime in 2012.
