The Nassau Community College Fall 2008 Cultural Program Presents "Justice Delayed: A True Story of Wrongful Conviction" with Marty TankleffJustice Delayed, November 12

Garden City, NY – The Fall 2008 Cultural Program at Nassau Community College is proud to present “Justice Delayed: A True Story of Wrongful Conviction with Marty Tankleff” on Wednesday, November 12 at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. in the College Center Building.

Marty Tankleff had just turned 17 in 1988 when he was arrested for killing his parents in their home on Long Island. Based on a dubious, unsigned “confession” extracted from him following hours of interrogation that he recanted almost immediately, he was convicted and sentenced to 50 years to life. After 17 years in prison, Tankleff’s conviction was vacated by the New York State Appellate Court in December 2007. On July 22, 2008, all charges against him were finally dismissed. A report is still pending from the New York State Investigation Commission, which is investigating Suffolk County law enforcement for its conduct in Tankleff’s conviction.

Now 34 years old, Marty Tankleff has ambitions to attend law school and change the system from the inside out.

“Justice Delayed: A True Story of Wrongful Conviction with Marty Tankleff” is free, open to the public and accessible to the disabled. Seating may be limited, however. For more information about this program, call 516.572.7153.
