GED-Seeking Student
There are two options for you at Nassau Community College.
- Take the New York State GED test. NCC's Office of Lifelong Learning is an approved testing site for this examination. There is currently no charge to take the GED test, but there is a fee if you choose to take the review classes offered by Lifelong Learning in the verbal and math areas. If you select this option, please call 516.572.7667 or visit Lifelong Learning-GED Test.
- Complete the 24-credit GED program. This option is available if a student is at least 18 years of age, a member of a high school class that graduated at least one year ago, and exhibits a genuine desire to obtain a college education. Students applying for this status must meet with a counselor from the Office of Admissions as part of the application process by attending one of the offered orientations. This program allows students to take college classes that count not only towards a college degree, but also towards a GED. Once the student has completed the appropriate college credits, they can apply to the N.Y. State Education Department to receive the GED which will be issued on the basis of the 24 college credits.
All applicants must submit a $50.00 non-refundable application fee. You must submit payment with a Payment Form, which is needed to appropriately apply the application fee to the student’s account.
