Jennifer Borzym of North Bellmore to be Student Trusteeat Nassau Community College Jennifer Borzym - Student Trustee

Garden City, NY – NCC's student trustee for the 2015-2016 academic year is Jennifer Borzym. A resident of North Bellmore, Borzym was active in Mepham High School before coming to Nassau. She was president of her school's Key Club, the high school student-led organization that teaches leadership through service to others. This year at NCC, she was a freshman senator, working with the faculty and administration to make decisions about the College. Borzym is also active in the Honors Program. (download hi res photo)

As the student trustee, Borzym intends to be an advocate for her fellow students. "Obviously, many of the decisions made by the Board of Trustees have an effect on the students who attend the College. Therefore it's important for all of us to know what's going on and to have our voices heard at that level," she said. She also feels that as the student trustee she can help other Board members understand how students are feeling.

The 19-year old liberal arts major thinks attending Nassau is a natural transition from high school to a four-year college or university. "I feel like Nassau gives me access to so many courses in so many different areas. I can really find out what interests me the most," she said. According to Borzym, the College's outstanding faculty is also a great reason to attend NCC, especially because they are so accessible and compassionate towards their students. In addition, she said, Nassau has enabled her to make friends with students from many different backgrounds.

Borzym is fascinated with the psychology of the workplace. In fact, after graduating from Nassau, she would like to continue on to a four-year school and pursue a degree in industrial psychology.

Borzym's family is no stranger to NCC. Her sister, mother and aunt have all attended the College.
