Garden City, NY The Nassau Community College Black History Month Committee is honored that actress and fashion model Yaya DaCosta will present Preservation: of Self, of Culture, of Earth on Thursday, February 26 at 11:30 a.m. in the College Center Building.

Camara “Yaya” DaCosta was the runner up on Cycle 3 of America's Next Top Model. Although she has been acting since she was 11 years old, DaCosta decided to put aside the arts in favor her education. After studying international relations and Africana studies, she graduated from Brown University. In 2004 she heeded the prompting of friends who encouraged her to try out for the reality series. Since her success on America's Next Top Model, DaCosta has secured a contract with the prestigious Ford Model Agency and revisited acting. She has appeared in several roles in film, television and the theatre.

Preservation: of Self, of Culture, of Earth is free and open to the public. For more information about the event, please call 516.572.7376.
