Encyclopedia of Catholic Social Thought, Social Science, and Social Policy

Garden City, NY - The Nassau Community College Center for Catholic Studies is proud to present a conference focusing on the recent publication of the Encyclopedia of Catholic Social Thought, Social Science, and Social Policy. The conference will be held in NCC's College Center Building on Thursday, October 25, beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The publication of the encyclopedia a seven-year academic project with over 850 entries and 300 contributors published this year by Scarecrow Press marks the crowning achievement of the Center for Catholic Studies over its first seven years of existence. At the conference, Prof. Richard Myers of Ave Maria School of Law will speak on “The History, Purpose, and Structure of the Encyclopedia.” Prof. Michael Coulter of Grove City College will then make a presentation on “Content: A Through Z.” The final speaker, Stephen M. Krason of Franciscan University, will address the issue of “The Encyclopedia as a Social Movement.”

During the conference, Diana Romero, a graduating NCC student, will receive the 2007 Douglas J. and Lillian Worthington Scholarship for Catholic Studies. Romero intends to apply to Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio.
