Immediate: September 29, 2006Contact: Alicia Steger 516.572.9634e-mail: alicia.steger@ncc.eduAnne Emerson, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at NCC, Receives Excellence in Education Award from the Nassau Community College Alumni Association, Ltd.Garden City, NY—Dr. Anne Emmerson, Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs at Nassau Community College and a resident of Bethpage, will be the recipient of the Excellence in Education award at the 20th Anniversary Dinner of the Nassau Community College Alumni Association, Ltd., which will be held at the Westbury Manor on Tuesday, October 17 at 6:30 p.m.Among Dr. Emmerson’s past positions at the College were Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Chairperson of the Office Technology Department and faculty member in the Office Technology Department. She is also extensively involved in both educational and community organizations. Dr. Emmerson is a member of the site visit team evaluating occupational studies programs for the New York State Education Department, Office of Higher Education. She is also past president and trustee of the Island Trees Board of Education and on the Board of Trustees of the Adults and Children with Learning and Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (ACLD).After graduating from Nassau in 1981, Dr. Emmerson earned a B.S. from SUNY Empire State College, an M.A.L.S. from SUNY Stony Brook and an Ed.D. in Educational Administration from Dowling College.
