PAT NOLAN RESIGNS AND TERRENCE MURRAY JOINS STAFF
Pat Nolan recently resigned his assistant coaching position to spend more time at Massapequa High School where he serves as its head football coach. Pat served the Lions for 15 years in a variety of capacities. During his tenure the Lions won 6 national titles while he worked with the goalies, the attack and more recently, served as the defensive coordinator. Pat’s loyalty, dedication and commitment will be missed and the Nassau CC Lacrosse Family thanks him for his contributions and wish him well.
Terrence Murray returns to his roots (NCC ’77 & ‘78) where he starred as a defenseman and was instrumental in the Lions 1978 Championship. Terry then transferred to the University of North Carolina where he lettered and graduated in 1982. After graduation he served as defensive coach at the University of Baltimore before gaining his stripes in the officiating arena at the college level. During the past 14 years Terry has coached at St. Anthony’s High School. He is excited about his new challenge in which he will assist with the lion defense while also coaching the goalies.
HAROLD McVEY TO BE INDUCTED INTO THE LIMLF HALL OF FAME
Harold was an outstanding attackman at Nassau CC in ’72 and ’73. He led the lions in scoring, and was instrumental in gaining two National Titles on Nassau’s only two undefeated teams (both teams finished 16-0). Harold transferred to the University of Massachusetts and then to Adelphi University where he earned All American honors and his degree. More recently, Harold has become one of the lead lacrosse officials in the Suffolk County High School Athletic Association. The Nassau CC lacrosse family congratulates Harold on his many accomplishments and his induction into the hall of fame.
LACROSSE ALUMNI DAY – APRIL 24th
April 24, 2010 has been selected as Nassau CC Lacrosse Alumni Day. Special recognition will be made for those teams who played in years ending with a “0.” Of special note is the fact that each of the teams (1970, 1980, 1990 and 2000) that precedes the past four decades have all won the NJCAA Championship. At halftime, of the Nassau/Army Prep Game, these four special teams will be recognized. Game time is 12:00 noon.
Following the contest all NCC lacrosse alumni are invited to gather at Jason Denicker’s (NCC ’95-97) establishment (Ianuzzi’s – 1363 Jerusalem Avenue, North Merrick - 516 222 1252). A $50 family donation will cover the cost of food (hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, salads etc. “T” shirts, paper goods, etc. BYOB). In order for us to prepare it is imperative that you contact the lacrosse office so the necessary preparations can be made. (Contact R. Speckmann – 516-572-7523 or richard.speckmann@ncc.edu or G. Powers – 516-572-8135 or george.powers@ncc.edu). Rain Date is Sunday, April 25th @ 3:00pm.
Jason Denicker (jdenicker@aol.com or 516-222-1252) is attempting to form a committee to assist in promoting Nassau’s Lacrosse Alumni in conjunction with the above affair. He would like to host a meeting in the immediate future, consequently, if interested please contact him asap. This is something many of us have talked about and now it can be a reality. Each of us has to make an effort to contact our teammates in order to make this a success.
