Firehouse Art Gallery Hosts Student Art Competition & Exhibition, through August 5
The Firehouse Art Gallery at Nassau Community College is running its annual competition and exhibition of works by students from the NCC Art Department. The exhibition runs from April 30 through August 5.  The competition includes painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, graphic designs and mixed media work. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Spring Dance Concert at Nassau Community College, May 2 - 4 and May 9 -11, Mainstage Theatre
The NCC Department of Theatre and Dance presents modern dance and ballet pieces.  Tickets cost $9.00 ($7.00 for seniors 55 and over and children 12 and under).  For more information, call 516-572-7676 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.  Additional Information

Nassau Community College Hosts the 2008 NJCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championships, May 10 & 11, Mitchel Athletic Complex
NCC hosts and participates in the National Junior College Athletic Association 2008 Men's Lacrosse championships.  Semi-final games are at 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 10; the Final game is at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 11.  Tickets can be purchased at Mitchel Athletic Complex on game days:  $10.00 for a weekend pass, $6.00 for a one-day pass.  NCC students admitted free with a current ID.  For more information, call 516-572-7522 during the day Monday through Friday or 516-572-0400 (Mitchel Athletic Complex) on Saturday and Sunday.  Additional Information

13th Annual "Celebrate Summer" Blood Drive at Nassau Community College, Wednesday, May 14, 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., College Center Building
Nassau Community College, in conjunction with Nassau University Medical Center, invites members of the community to make a blood donation during it's annual "Celebrate Summer" Blood Drive on Wednesday,  May 14, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the CCB.  For more information, please call 516-572-7883.  Additional Information

Nassau Community College's 48th Annual Commencement, Tuesday, May 20, 7:00 p.m., Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum
Graduating students should arrive at the Exhibition Hall by 6:00 p.m.  There are no tickets for this event and no charge for parking.  There is also no limit as to the number of guests that students can bring.  For more information, call 516-572-7501.  Additional Information

Catholic Studies Presents "Communicating the Truth About the Perils and Promises of the Contemporary Biotech Revolution: A Crucial Task for the Catholic Community," Saturday, June 21, 11 a.m., College Center Building
Keynote speaker Rick Hinshaw, editor of the Long Island Catholic newspaper, will be followed by a panel discussion with Dr. Jane Gilroy, president of the Long Island Chapter of University Faculty for Life; Dr. Debra Hanna, R.N., Assistant Professor of Nursing at Molloy College; and the Rev. Monsignor Robert J. Batule, Diocese of Rockville Centre.
