How do I get started?
To be considered for Federal Financial Aid, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for each academic year. Our school code is 002873.
You can do so by filing your application over the Internet at www.fafsa.ed.gov
Once your FAFSA is processed, New York State will generate the Express TAP Application (ETA) that you need to file to be considered for the New York Tuition Assistance Program. For more specific information on New York State sponsored financial aid programs, go to www.HESC.com or www.tapweb.org.

New York State Sponsored Programs
The Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) is available for all full-time students. Applications for this grant program are automatically sent to students once they complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. When you file your federal financial aid application over the Internet, a link will direct you to a Web site, which will allow you to file your TAP application.
Part-Time Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) is a state education law that has been amended to create a Part-Time Tuition Assistance Program for students attending the State University of New York (SUNY), the City University of New York (CUNY) or not-for-profit, independent degree-granting colleges.
To be eligible for Part-Time TAP, students must have been freshmen in the 2006-7 academic year or thereafter, have earned 12 or more credits in each of two consecutive semesters and maintain a "C" average.
Part-Time TAP is similar to the CUNY PT Pilot, which began in 2000 and allows for partial TAP payment for students taking 6-11 credits.
Part-Time TAP should not be confused with Aid for Part-Time Study (APTS), which is a different program that has different eligibility requirements.
The Aid for Part-Time Study Program (APTS) is offered to students who are registered for between 3 and 11.5 credits. APTS applications and criteria are available at the Financial Aid Office.
