WRITING LITERACY PROJECT: In a special section of English 200 (Advanced Composition), NCC students in the Writing Literacy Project work as writing mentors for "at risk" students in community middle schools and high schools. Sponsored by the New York State Department of Education's Liberty Partnership Program, Honors students in this course travel to schools in Westbury, Roosevelt, Oceanside and Long Beach, where they run small creative writing groups in after- school programs.

ADOPT-A-CLASS: Each year, Honors students host a grade school class and conduct various activities for them on the Nassau Community College campus. For example, guest students may participate in an Honors class in progress, visit the NCC weather center, the computer center, attend a musical performed by Nassau's Theatre Department and learn what it is like to go to college.

HONORS CONNECTION: The Honors Connection Program enables bright, motivated high school juniors and seniors who meet established criteria to participate in Nassau's Honors Program by taking one or more classes at Nassau Community College.
