| The Respiratory Care program at Nassau Community College is a two-year (i.e., four semesters and 2 summer sessions) program, leading to the Associate in Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree. Graduates are eligible to take the examinations given by the National Board. |

Graduates are trained in diagnostic and therapeutic techniques for adult, pediatric and neonatal patients, and upon graduation, are prepared to work in all areas of the field including intensive-critical-emergency care, general respiratory care, and rehabilitation and home care for cardiopulmonary patients.

| The Respiratory Care Program combines lecture and laboratory courses and liberal arts courses given at Nassau Community College with off-campus clinical education at various affiliating hospitals. This program is accredited by the Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care. Opportunities for professional advancement at the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree level are available. |
