| Professor Mary Peck holds a master's degree in counseling and has been on the faculty of Nassau Community College since 1982 in the department of Student Personnel Services. She teaches a counseling seminar in NCC's developmental education program and also teaches the Freshman Experience class.
Professor Peck also teaches workshops in learning and study strategies to the NCC campus community and has written customized programs for the Nursing department. She has coordinated faculty development programs on enhancing critical thinking in the classroom and on "teaching for learning."
Professor Peck teaches two classes through NCC's Lifelong Learning Program: "Parents as Partners in Learning" and "Learning/Studying with Confidence." She has spoken to many parent and teacher groups on "coaching for learning" throughout Nassau and Suffolk counties.
She is currently writing two new courses; one on anxiety and stress management for students and another course on adult learning.
While she primarily works with probation and at-risk students, Professor Peck's main objective in her professional work is to encourage a "love for learning" and to assist students of any age to become learners!
