How To Obtain Our Services

NCC Campus

If you have a disability and want to attend Nassau Community College, please do the following:

1. Fill out the college’s admissions application and follow all of the instructions. All students must meet the college admissions criteria.  To download the NCC Admissions Guide and Application, please click here.

2. On line #13, write down your disability. By writing on this line, the Center for Students with Disabilities (CSD) will be able to contact you.

3. You will receive a letter from the Admissions Office inviting you to take the placement exam.

a. If you are entitled to extended time only, please bring appropriate documentation with you when you come to take the exam.

b. If you require any other specific accommodations for the placement exam, you (the student, not the parent) must call CSD to make arrangements.

4. Once you receive the results of the placement exam, depending upon your scores, you will receive a letter from either CSD or the Basic Education Program (BEP).

a. If you are placed in the BEP program, you will receive an invitation to attend an orientation for registration.

b. If you have a learning or emotional disability, you will be sent documentation forms which you must have filled out by your high school resource room teacher, guidance counselor, psychologist or medical doctor. An IEP or 504 Plan alone is NOT sufficient documentation. Once we receive the necessary completed forms, you will be eligible to make an appointment with your assigned counselor.

c. If you have any other documented disability (physical, hearing, visual, medical), you will receive a letter from our office inviting you to meet with a counselor; a request for documentation will follow.
